YYC Airport Noise Monitoring Program: We’re Listening
The Calgary Airport Authority is committed to be a good neighbor, and is working together with the Signal Hill Community Association in response to aircraft noise concerns brought forward by members of the Signal Hill community.
We will be installing a permanent noise monitoring terminal in Signal Hill to measure the level of aircraft noise in the area. Permitting and installation is expected to take several months.
In the interim, The Calgary Airport Authority (Authority) has positioned a mobile noise monitoring van in Signal Hill to monitor aircraft noise for four weeks. Community members can view live aircraft noise data on YYC Airport’s PublicVue Flight Tracking System. At the end of the monitoring period, results will be summarized in a report for community members.
The Authority actively monitors flight operations as part of a community-focused Noise Monitoring Program. We work with NAV Canada—the organization responsible for safe airspace management—as well as airline partners and community associations to help facilitate a balance between the growing demand for air travel and cargo, and their impact on communities.
