Adding another partner to Neighbour Day on Saturday, June 20. The MPC Foundation is joining the day with activities that span both ends of our neighbourhood — programming info for older adults, and a FIFA-themed family zone for kids.

You may already know MPC from the Seniors Sewing Club pilot they ran here this spring. It went well enough that it's about to become a free weekly program in Signal Hill.

Who is MPC Foundation?

MPC Foundation is an award-winning grassroots organization dedicated to reducing and preventing social isolation among older adults. Through free weekly in-person and virtual programming across Calgary, they empower older adults with the skills, tools, and opportunities to learn, play, connect, and give back. Their tagline: Where Aging Is Celebrated.

The Signal Hill sewing pilot is one example of how that plays out locally — a neighbour had an idea, MPC supplied the room and materials, and a club came to life.

What they're bringing to Neighbour Day

Since Canada is hosting the FIFA World Cup this year, MPC is leaning into the moment with three family activities, plus an info table for older adults:

• Origami jersey-making station — hands-on, all ages
• FIFA foosball competition with official World Cup branded mini prizes
• Kids' space to pick up a few soccer tricks
• Info table on free MPC programs across Calgary — sewing, social groups, virtual classes, more
