Neighbour Day 2026, over 500 neighbours and one unforgettable Saturday
What a day. Over 500 neighbours came out to make this year's Neighbour Day one for the books, and the energy from start to finish was something else.
We started under good skies, caught a quick bit of rain partway through, and by 2:30 the sun was back out and stayed with us right to the end. If you bounced, slid, crafted, ate, competed, or just connected with someone new, thank you for being part of it.
What we got up to
There was a lot packed into one afternoon:
- Three giant inflatables, and yes, plenty of grown-ups went down the slide too
- Face painting that ran for hours
- World Cup games, prizes, and origami jerseys with the MPC Foundation
- A kids' craft station hosted by the City of Calgary
- Free hot dogs and drinks for SHCA members
- Yard game tournaments on the lawn
- Little Whispers' sensory bus, a calm, quiet space whenever anyone needed a break
Thank you to our partners
None of this happens without the people and businesses who show up for our community:
- Specsavers Signal Hill
- MPC Foundation
- Nani's Gelato
- City of Calgary
- Little Whispers, whose sensory bus was a real game-changer
- AstroJump
And our volunteers
The day only runs because volunteers make it run. A heartfelt thank you to Wesley, Emily, Alan, and Carol, who covered the morning and afternoon shifts on everything from the kids' zone to the food line to general help wherever it was needed, and to Gord and Linda, who somehow managed to be everywhere at once. We could not have done it without you.
If you volunteered with us this year, come let us thank you in person at Volunteer Appreciation Night on Thursday, June 25, 6 PM at the Lennox Irish Pub. RSVP here

Missed it? There's always next year
We are already starting to plan for 2027. The best way to never miss out is to become an SHCA member at shca.ca, and members eat free at Neighbour Day.
Want to sponsor or volunteer next year? We would love to hear from you at [email protected].
