We have a soft spot for the businesses that show up for this community, and this one earned it the honest way: with a table, a smile, and a whole lot of gelato on a hot Saturday afternoon.

We're thrilled to welcome Nani's Gelato as a Signal Hill Community Association Annual Sponsor.

Nani's Gelato

They showed up for Neighbour Day

If you were at Neighbour Day on June 20, you probably saw the line. Nani's set up on the vendor row between the bouncy castles and the BBQ and handed out scoop after scoop, and the kids absolutely loved it. There's something about a cold, fresh scoop of pistachio or a bright fruit sorbet on a warm June afternoon that turns a good day into a day people remember. Watching little ones come back for "just one more" with gelato on their chins was one of the small, perfect moments of the whole event.

That's the thing about days like Neighbour Day, the inflatables and the hot dogs and the face painting don't happen on their own. They happen because neighbours volunteer their Saturdays and because local businesses decide to give back. Nani's did both, and now they've gone a step further by signing on for the whole year.

A little about Nani's

"Nani" means grandmother across many South Asian languages, and that's the whole idea: gelato made the way a grandmother would make it, in small batches, from fresh ingredients, every single day, no shortcuts. They blend Italian technique with Asian and South Asian flavours, so right next to the best-selling pistachio and the classic fruit sorbets you'll find limited-time creations you won't get anywhere else.

The Beacon Hill shop is actually Nani's first location outside Ontario and their debut in Alberta, and it's the only artisanal gelato shop in the surrounding area. Everything is made on-site daily, and there's a lot more than scoops on the board: house-made soft serve, gelato milkshakes, cookie sandwiches, and pints, pies, and cakes to take home. The menu rotates every two weeks, so there's always something new, it's worth a return trip (and you can subscribe to their flavour newsletter to see what's coming).

Drop by and treat yourself

You'll find Nani's just up the road on Sarcee Trail NW, in Beacon Hill, only minutes from Costco.

Planning your next Costco run? Swing by while you're in the area and treat yourself to a scoop (or two) before heading home. Take the kids, they've earned it after the school year, and so have you.

A big, warm thank-you to Manan and the whole Nani's Gelato team for backing our events, our volunteers, and the neighbourhood all year. We're proud to have you in the community.
