If you've driven past the field by Battalion Park School on a weekend, you've probably seen them: kids in jerseys, parents on the sidelines, a coach setting up cones. That's West Hills United Soccer, and we're proud to welcome them as a Signal Hill Community Association Annual Sponsor.

West Hills United Soccer

Soccer for every kid, right in the neighbourhood

West Hills United has been part of west Calgary since 2013, and they're deeply rooted in the SW community. They offer both competitive and recreational programming for all ages, U4 right through U19, so whether your little one is chasing the ball for the very first time or your teen wants a serious, skill-building program, there's a place for them.

What we love is that it's year-round and it's close to home. There's an indoor and an outdoor season with Calgary Minor Soccer, summer camps when school's out, and a community House League for the younger players. You don't have to drive across the city for your kids to play a real sport with their neighbours, it's happening a few blocks away.

A club with real pedigree

Here's the part that surprised us: West Hills United is the first and only soccer club in Canada officially partnered with the Argentinian Football Association (AFA). That means their coaches teach using the same legendary training methodology that produced some of the best players in the world. Pretty remarkable for a club you can walk to.

But the methodology is only half of it. West Hills runs on a few simple values: every child should get to play regardless of their family's finances, good sportsmanship and respect come first, and the whole point is to build "a lifelong love and enjoyment of the beautiful game." It's a volunteer-run, family-driven club, the kind of place where the parents on the sideline are part of what makes it work.

Want your kids to play?

If you've got a young one who wants to get outside, make friends, and develop as an athlete, this is an easy yes. Registration and full program details (indoor, outdoor, camps, and House League) are on their website:

A big thank-you to the West Hills United team for backing Signal Hill, our events, and our volunteers. We're glad to have a club this good right in our own backyard.
