Good news for Ward 6 hikers, with a short window to weigh in.

The Douglas Fir Trail, one of the most-loved natural spaces on Calgary's west side, is reopening additional sections on a trial basis where conditions allow. Slope stabilization and repair work is still underway, so some areas remain closed.

Tread carefully

A few sections stay closed due to trail conditions, slope-stability concerns, and active construction nearby. Please follow all posted signage, stay out of closed areas, and keep clear of the construction zone. Respecting the closures keeps both trail users and crews safe, and helps the City keep as much of the trail open as it can.

Have your say (by July 20)

The City has launched the first phase of public engagement on the safe, long-term reopening of the trail. Until July 20, you can share your priorities, safety, environmental protection, accessibility, and the overall trail experience.

If the trail matters to you, this is the moment your input carries the most weight.
