Summer street work is coming to a few Ward 6 corners
If you notice crews and cones at an intersection near you this summer, this is likely why.
The City's Various Street Improvements (VSI) program does proactive road, sidewalk, and pathway upkeep every year from April through November. The idea is simple: small fixes now prevent much bigger, more disruptive repairs later. This year's Ward 6 list includes a few spots close to home.
Ward 6 locations this year
| Location | Work |
|---|---|
| 69 St & Springbank Blvd SW | Bus pad install + pathway tie-in |
| 45 St & Windemere Rd SW | Curb extension |
| 17 Ave & St Moritz Dr / Aspen Stone Blvd SW | Pathway reconstruction |
| 26 Ave SW & 77 St SW | Curb extension |
| Wentworth Ave & 89 St SW | Curb extension |
The two closest to Signal Hill are 69 St & Springbank Blvd SW and 45 St & Windemere Rd SW, so expect some short-term lane or sidewalk disruption around those corners while work is underway.
Good to know
The program bundles safety upgrades (better intersections, turn lanes, traffic calming), better connections (new or repaired sidewalks, pathways, and transit facilities), and infrastructure care (drainage and roadway repair). Individual projects can take anywhere from a few days to a few months, and locations can shift with budget and coordination.
