It seems that summers get shorter and shorter every year. How was your summer? Did you have to make changes because of weather, fire, or other factors? If that was the case, I hope that you were successful and that you and your family were able to refresh.

Over the course of the summer, your Association has been busier than we have been in past summer seasons. In addition to the programs offered by us and our partners, we have been offering other recreational opportunities. Additionally, we have expanded our booking opportunities for the facilities located at 489 Sienna Park Drive SW. You will find details on our website, shca.ca.

Last month, 28 neighbours spent two days volunteering at Cowboys Casino and secured our principal source of funding for the next eighteen months. A big thank you to those and all the other volunteers who participated over the summer. You can read the full casino thank-you, with every volunteer named.

Perhaps you are settling down in September to a routine that starts in the fall. Back to school, or back to work. I always find the fall to be the start of new beginnings. My granddaughter is starting Grade three this year, and yes, she is excited to start the new year. For your Association, we too will start a new year. Our year-end was August 31st. The first Board meeting for this season is September 9th. The passing of budgets, program reviews, and the initial planning stages for our AGM to be held in November or December will be undertaken.

In our meeting there will be several Board positions opening. No one has reached out to the Nominations Committee. Please consider whether you can help and would like to have your input for our community.
