New at the Community Centre: a Sunday mobility class with Coach Craig from F45, starting October 18
Stiff back after a week at a desk? Knees that complain on the stairs? For four Sundays this fall, you can spend an hour fixing that right here in Signal Hill.
The Signal Hill Community Association is running a mobility class at the Signal Hill Community Centre, led by Coach Craig from F45 Training Signal Hill, one of our sponsors. This is a four-week pilot, and it's the first regular class we've run in the building.
When and where
- Sundays, 11 AM to noon: October 18, November 1, November 8 and November 15
- No class on October 25. The room is booked that morning, and pumpkin carving follows in the afternoon.
- Multi-purpose room, Signal Hill Community Centre, 489 Sienna Park Drive SW
What the class is
An hour of guided movement: working through each joint, stretching, and control work you can repeat at home. You don't need any experience, and every movement can be scaled to suit you, whether you train often or haven't in years.
Craig has six years of coaching experience and a Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma from Mount Royal University. He specializes in strength, mobility and movement education. He got into mobility partly from watching his own parents struggle with physical limits. His goal is simple: help people move more freely, with less pain, so they can keep doing what they love.
Bring comfortable clothes, a water bottle, and a yoga mat if you have one.
Cost and booking
- $5 a class for SHCA members
- $15 a class for non-members
- Pay per class, with no commitment. You can book for up to four people at once.
- Each class takes 20 people, so booking ahead holds your spot.
Why a pilot
Residents have asked us for classes in the building: yoga, mobility, dance. Before we commit to a full season, we want to see who actually comes. The small fee covers the coach and makes sure people who book show up. If these four Sundays go well, more will follow, and we'll use what we learn to plan other programs.
Thank you to F45 Training Signal Hill for lending us Craig on Sunday mornings.
