If you walk to Sirocco Station, you've probably waited at those crossings longer than you'd like. You're not the only one who noticed.

The October update from Councillor John Pantazopoulos, our Ward 6 councillor, says his office has heard from residents about safety around the Sirocco LRT Station, and is now working on it with the City.

What the City is looking at

  • Pedestrian signal timing. The Councillor's office is working with the City's Mobility department to refine the walk signals at the station.
  • Faster recovery after a train. It has also asked for the signals to recover more quickly after a CTrain crosses, so that waiting traffic and pedestrians get moving sooner once the train has passed.
The update doesn't give a date for changes yet. We'll post here when we hear more.

What Signal Hill reported to 311 in September

The same update lists the most common 311 requests from Signal Hill in September 2026. Out of roughly 310 requests:

  • Carts: 38 for missing or broken carts, plus 17 about black carts, 14 about blue and 14 about green
  • Transit: 20 about bus routes or schedules, and 9 about transit staff
  • Trees: 13
  • Sidewalks, curbs and gutters: 9
  • Roads: 7 dead animal pick-ups, 7 traffic signal timing questions, 6 missing or damaged signs and 4 potholes

How to get something fixed

1. Start with 311. Call 311 or use the 311 app, so the problem is logged with the right City department. You'll get a Service Request (SR) number. 2. Stuck? Send the SR number to the Councillor. If nothing happens, email the SR number to [email protected]. The office can chase it with the City, ask for updates and escalate it when needed. The number gets your request to the right place faster.

Concerns about the Sirocco crossings or other walking and traffic safety can go straight to the Councillor's office as well.
